Helen Henderson grew up in Invercargill, a small country town, on the southernmost coast of New Zealand.
True to her Gypsy spirit, she became a traveling Troubadour, singing her way through many Rock and Roll adventures, from New Zealand to London, Los Angeles to Nashville and Muscle Shoals Alabama. Somewhere along the way, a journalist from the LA Times named her the “Kiwi Siren.”
She is based in Los Angeles, and lives between Muscle Shoals AL, and Bluff, New Zealand. A born storyteller, Helen sings from the heart. Sweet and seductive one minute, bruised and worldly weary the next. Her songs hunker down, weaving their magic through an earthy blend of folk, rock, blues and country. Helen’s music defies genres, like Americana, but her Kiwi roots are showing. Helen has released three records.
SONORA SESSIONS 2000
TWISTING WIND 2008
Her latest record “MURIELS DREAM”
is due to be released in 2021.
Several of Helen’s songs are featured on American
television shows: “ TRUE BLOOD”
“CRIMINAL MINDS” “ CHICAGO FIRE” and “MEN IN TREES.”
Her music is available on all major digital platforms.
In 2019, Helen was inducted into the “ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME” in Southland New Zealand.
She has had a long illustrious career, and continues to develop as an artist, at her own leisurely pace.
Helen is excited to be a part of MOJO FILTER BLUES, playing shows in and around Los Angeles and Southern California.
